GEOMETRY

Monday, May 18

Homework:
p.637 #10-17, #37-42

Today, we started chapter 12 and learned about transformations -- changing a figure's position or size on the coordinate plane -- and the first specific type of transformation: reflections.

For more help on this, read section 12-1 in your textbook.

GEOMETRY

Tuesday, May 12

Homework:
p.611 #1-6, #9-14

Today, we covered secants and how to measure their lengths, and the measures of the angles that they form. For more help, read section 11-4 in your textbook.

Monday, May 11

Homework:
p.601 #6-24 even

Today, we covered inscribed angles, and learned how to measure them using their intercepted arcs. For more help, please read 11-3 in your textbook.

GEOMETRY

Friday, May 8

Homework:
p.593 #2-18 even

Today, we covered relationships between chords and diameters, and how they form right triangles. For more help on this, read section 11-2 in your textbook.

Thursday, May 7

Homework:
p.586 #1-5, #16-22

Today, we covered tangent lines, and how they interact with each other, as well as with the radii of a circle. For more help, read section 11-1 in your textbook.

NOTE: We took our chapter 10 test on wednesday, so there was no homework assigned on tuesday and wednesday.

Monday, May 4, 2009

Monday, May 4

Homework:
p.554 #6-14 even
p. 561 #8-16 even

Today, we learned how to calculate the volume of pyramids, cones, and spheres, and how to get the surface area of spheres. This is all covered by lessons 10-6 and 10-7 in your textbook.

Friday, May 1

Homework:
p. 540
#2-20 even

Today, we covered the volume of cylinders and prisms. These formulas and topics can be found in lesson 10-5 in your textbook.

Please review your CHAPTER 10 LEARNING PACKET for a list of all the formulas we are covering this chapter.

GEOMETRY

Thursday, April 30

Homework:
p.547 #1-13

Today, we continued on prisms and cylinders, this time learning to calculate their volume. For more help on this and yesterday's lesson, read section 10.3 and 10.5 in your textbook.

Wednesday, April 29

Homework:
p. 532 #5-15

Today, we started a new chapter (#10) on the surface area of prisms and cylinders.

GEOMETRY

So sorry folks... I "fell off the wagon" after Spring Break. Hence, we resume our blog.

Friday's homework was:
p.484
#14-23

This section covered trigonometry word problems -- how to create right triangles in order to solve the problem using trig ratios.

MONDAY, APRIL 27

Homework:
p.501
#11-16, #20-27

This lesson (9-5 in the textbook) covered how to determine the area of any regular polygon using the triangles inside. We also learned the formula for finding the area of ANY triangle.

A = [BC(sinA)]/2

Monday, April 6, 2009

Friday, April 3

Homework:
p.448
#2-24 even

The past couple of class days, we have covered similarity in triangles, similarity in RIGHT triangles, and how to write proportion equations that help us solve those problems. For more help on this topic, read sections 8.3 thru 8.5 in your textbook.

On thursday, we also took a review test covering chapters 4-6, to help prepare us for the Benchmark test. The benchmark will be given the week after spring break, but the day will be different based on what period you have geometry. It will cover chapters 1-8 from your textbook. I'll be giving out an extra-credit review packet for you to work on over spring break.
