Homework:
Ch 1 review packet
#1-8

Today, we learned how to write an equation to find out how many people will come to a concert BASED ON how much we charge for a ticket. (n=mp+b, e.g., n=-148p+21459). We substituted this equation for "n" in our previous profit equation (e.g., P=15.5n - 205,000), and came up with a quadratic equation that we used to determine the price we could use for maximum profit. (e.g., P = -148p2 + 22095p - 299431). For the Dixie Chickens at the Starplex Ampitheater, we found a maximum profit price of $74 per ticket for a profit of over $500,000!

We will have our chapter 1 test on Monday. Use your review packet as a template for studying. Super Bowl Sunday is just three short days away:)!

Homework:
p. 55 #2-10 even, #22-32 even

special challenge: 38 and 39

Today, we reviewed the formulas for area, perimeter, and circumference. Be prepared to use the distance formula to find the lengths of rectangle sides, and the length of a circle's radius.

We will have a test tomorrow on chapter 1. It will cover 1.1-4 and 1.6-7. Refer to the "Geometry Unit 1 Learning Packet" for what to study. Don't forget your vocab!

Homework:
P. 48 #3-6

Today we covered how to create a profit equation using revenue and costs. We also learned how to create an equation by using our "stat plot" function that will help us predict concert turn-out based on our ticket prices. Read section 1-4 and 1-5 for more information.

Homework:
p.46 #2-8 even, #18-28 even

Today, we worked on the midpoint formula and the distance formula. We learned how to draw and measure line segments on the coordinate plane.

For more help, read lesson 1-6 in your text book.

VOCABULARY:
Midpoint formula
Distance formula

Homework:
p.29 #1-7
We started this problem set in class. Please complete it for homework.

Today, we discussed how to calculate the total cost of our concert using our fixed and variable costs, and we talked about how to build a profit equation from the total cost and total revenue.

For more information, read sections 1-3 through 1-4 of our text books.

Thanks for a great day... see you tomorrow!

Day One!

Hey everyone! Welcome to Mr. Jones' math blog. This semester (spring '09), I have geometry and AFM classes, so please make sure that you're reading the correct information on each post. I'll try to be as clear as possible in my writing so you know what information is for you.

I hope you like this technological twist on my classroom whiteboard. Hope this semester is fantastic.

Roll Pirates Roll.

...like you didn't see that coming.
